4 stars ****
Advance, was not at all what I was expecting. I love Dystopian books but I’d never read anything like this before and I have to say I was pretty ignorant with the whole sci-fi elements in the past. I won’t be anymore.
This had the feel of I, Robot, without the robots. That’s the kind of world this presented to me in my head. However I, Robot was tame. This was more depraved and gritty. There were things in this that made me cringe but were integral to the storyline.
I liked the lead female character Faith. Although at times I though she was a little whiny and foolish. But when you read the book you’ll understand why. I loved Kye, very alpha, very hot but sensitive. There were characters that I really did not like but I can’t explain why without giving away some of the plot.
I really enjoyed the whole storyline, it drew me in and I found myself getting frustrated, angry, sad, anxious and scared. The whole thing was a rollercoaster ride.
The romance was quite tame to what I’m used to, however, it wasn’t what the book was about. Yes it was a dystopian romance but I think too much would have detracted from the story. It didn’t need too much sex. (Never thought I’d say that.)
I would definitely read more by this author and I no doubt will continue the Advance story.
Happy Reading 🙂
